Business legitimation card
If you want to do business abroad for a company based in Germany, you may need a business legitimation card. For activities within the European Union, as well as in Switzerland and Norway, there is usually no need for a business legitimation card. However, this can vary from country to country. In this regard, please enquire with the Single Point of Contact of the country in which you wish to do business for the company based in Germany.

Who issues the business legitimacy card?
Contact the municipal/municipal administration where your business is located.
What documents do I have to submit?
- completed application form (must be requested from the competent municipality)
- Identity card or passport
- if applicable, extract from the commercial register, the register of associations or the register of cooperatives
- if applicable, certificate of good conduct / extract from the central business register
- Crafts card, if applicable
- if applicable, evidence of insurance required for the business carried out
costs
Fees range from €10 to €100. Further information can be obtained from the issuing municipality.
